Tower of "Homenatge"

TOWER OF “HOMENATGE” 13th-14th centuries

Until the end of the 17th century, this was the main tower of the Abbot’s Castle-Palace, the temporary residence of the abbots of Sant Pere de Rodes. The keep was part of the defence system of Llançà, together with at least six other towers placed at intervals along the former town walls.

In the early 18th century, the church of Sant Vicenç was built against the façade of the keep, thereby diminishing its former majestic presence. However, we can still see its original noble rectangular dimensions, the neat stonework, and the Gothic window on each of the three remaining façades.
