Sant Silvestre Hermitage

HERMITAGE OF SANT SILVESTRE

Built in the most primitive Romanesque style, there are already recorded references to this building in the 11th century under the name of a certain cella Silvestri belonging to Sant Esteve at Banyoles.
The church’s nave has piped vaulting and it has an exterior semi-circular apse in which there are two semi-circular arched windows. The structure has opus spicatum in different points. From its architectural characteristics it may date from the 10th century.
